Data Access
AMS currently requires a direct Internet connection from the handset. Unlike Series 60 handsets Nokia Series 40 devices require the access point or APN setting to be done for all software on the device rather than per connection attempt.
| Pre Pay and Vodafone Live AMS does not currently work using the Vodafone Live access point, also know as "VFNZ Gateway" or "VF Live". |
Adding The Access Point Via SMS
To have the access point settings sent to your phone via SMS see the Service Configuration page.
Creating The Access Point Manually
To create an access point go to "Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Configuration" -> "Personal config. settings" -> "Options" -> "Add New" -> "Access Point" and for Vodafone NZ input:

Setting The Access Point
On Series 40 phones you need to set the access point you wish to use in two places. For example to use the "VFNZ Internet" access point:
- Set the active access point by going to "Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Connectivity" -> "Packet Data" -> "Packet Data Settings" -> "Active Access Point" and choosing "VFNZ Internet".
- Set the preferred access point by going to "Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Configuration" -> "Preferred Access Point" = "VFNZ Internet"
| External Info There is more information about setting the access point on a Nokia Series 40 phone in the Forum Nokia Wiki. |

It s necessary to both create and set the access point in the 2 places listed above - the active access point and the preferred access point.
