A structured message is one in which the individuals pieces of information (items of data) are identified and separated. For example, in a structured message a person's first name, surname and the individual lines of their address and postcode may all be stored as individual items. When the message is received by another system, that system can identify the individual items of data and process them according to its rules.
As a contract, unstructured data, such as a PDF file or a Word document, will not (generally) allow a receiving system to identify and extract specific items of data.
|Mobile Enterprise Application Platform|
A suite of products and services that enable development of mobile applications. A MEAP will provide those users creating the applications (or forms) with pre-configured integration to systems within the organisation, as well as higher level languages and easy development templates to simplify and speed the mobile application development timeframe. The objective is to require less programming knowledge for mobile business application deployment.
A Web Service is a method of communication between two electronic devices over a network. It allows two computer systems to communicate with each other and exchange data. A web service provides a standardised way for the two systems to communicate, and defines the way in which they must each create and send messages.
Templates are the basis of all AMS messages. The template defines how a message will appear to a user, and what format the structured message will be in (sub XML).
A template is created by an authorised user of the AMS system, and is stored on the server. Users within the organisation can then download the template to their device, and use it to create and send messages.
Once the template is stored on a device, only the data for a message is sent over the mobile network. This reduces the amount of data required to transmit a message and as a result reduces the time and cost associated with sending the message.
A template can include extra information such as routing rules, as well as hidden fields which are useful for customising messages to a particular user or for storing information useful to receiving system.
|Mobile Client||The software which AMS installs on their device. The AMS mobile client knows how to communicate with the AMS server, how to read and process templates and how to validate and phone. It comes as a J2ME MIDP 2.0 CLDC 1.1, a BlackBerry native Java application, Android 2.2+ (phones and tablets) and iOS. (Apple: iPhone, iPad, iPod) . iOS is not available as a download from the App Store. It is downloaded via a VPP or Enterprise licence. Windows 10 will be released in Quarter 2, 2016.|
